Insurance & Billing
We bill the insurance plans we're in network with directly. For plans we're out of network with, we offer courtesy billing: you pay us at your session, we submit the claim for you, and your insurance company reimburses you. Not sure about your plan? Text us at 217-731-4638 and we'll check for you.
Insurance we accept
Aetna PPO (including Meritain Health)
Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO (including Anthem PPO)
UnitedHealthcare Student Resources
Medicare
Curative
Immergrun (WebTPA)
HealthLink
Samata Health (EAP)
ComPsych (EAP)
Using your insurance
Not every clinician takes every plan. For most other plans we're out of network, but many plans still have out-of-network benefits and we can submit claims for you. Here's how out-of-network billing works.
Check your benefits first
Before your first session, call your insurance and ask: Are my sessions covered? What's my deductible? What's my copay or coinsurance? Do I need pre-authorization? Is there a session limit? We're happy to share what we know, but we can't guarantee it. If insurance doesn't pay, you're responsible for sessions already provided.
UIUC student insurance
Call the UIUC Student Health Insurance office at 217-300-9000 to check your benefits before you start, since details change. Undergraduates: $250 deductible, then 20% (about $40 a session). Graduate students: $150 deductible, then 20% (about $40 a session).
New year, new card
Deductibles reset in January. If your coverage changes or you get a new insurance card, tell us and upload it to your Client Portal right away. If we don't know about a change, claims can be denied and the bill comes to you.
Paying for sessions
Card on file (required)
Every client needs a credit or debit card on file. It holds your appointment time and keeps payment out of your sessions. We charge it after each session (unless we've set up another arrangement) and for late cancellations or missed sessions. Once your card is on file, you can also pay with an HSA/FSA card, cash or check. Your card is stored in an encrypted, HIPAA-compliant system, and we never see your full card number.
Your Client Portal
Once you're a client, you'll get an email invite to your secure Client Portal. Use it any time to sign your forms before your first session, update your contact info, see your balance and payment history, make payments, update your card, and download bills or forms. Check the portal before contacting billing. A lot of answers are right there.
Practice Policies
Cancellations & late arrivals
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours ahead. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice and missed appointments are charged $100. If you're late, your session may be shorter. If you're more than 10 minutes late, the full session is billed to you, since insurance can't be billed for it.
Privacy, confidentiality & minors
Bodhi follows HIPAA and keeps your information secure. When therapy involves a minor, parents or legal guardians may be legally entitled to some information about treatment. Your therapist talks with both the young person and their caregivers about what stays private and what may be shared, so the young client has a safe, open space.
Telehealth
Secure video sessions are available anywhere in Illinois. Join from a private, quiet space with a stable connection. You can stop using telehealth at any time without affecting your care. All the same confidentiality protections apply, and you have the right to your telehealth records. Your therapist may miss some visual cues over video, so let them know how it's going.

Staying in touch
Calls & emergencies
Call or text our main number, 217-731-4638, for scheduling, new client questions and billing. Our clinicians don't have access to the main line, so a message left there won't reach your clinician quickly. To reach your clinician, email them directly. We get back to you within 48 business hours. In an emergency, call 911, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), go to your nearest emergency room, or call the local crisis line at 217-359-4141.
Texting & email
Texting the main number is the fastest way to schedule, cancel or ask a general question. The main number doesn't go to your clinician, so email your clinician for anything about your care. Text and email can't be guaranteed fully secure, so please don't use them to share details about what you're working on in therapy or to ask for emergency help.
Social media
Our therapists don't accept friend or follow requests from current or former clients on any platform. It protects your confidentiality. You're welcome to follow Bodhi on any or all of our social media channels and to sign up for our newsletter.
Ending therapy
Ending therapy is a meaningful part of the work. When you can, talk it over with your therapist so you can look back at your progress and wrap up well. If therapy isn't helping, or payment isn't being made, your therapist may recommend ending treatment, but only after talking it through with you, and they can give you referrals. If nothing is scheduled for 14 days in a row and no other plan has been made, Bodhi considers the professional relationship closed.
Letters, forms & records
Current clients, ask your therapist. Former clients, send your request through our contact form.
ADHD assessment write-ups
ADHD assessment write-ups are $100 an hour, and most take about 3 hours. Your clinician is also happy to go over your results with you in session, along with the write-up or instead of it. Learn more about ADHD assessments.

How it works
Most requests are done within two weeks. We may not be able to fill requests needed in less than a week, and sending a request doesn't guarantee we can fill it. We ask for a non-refundable deposit of half the estimated cost before we start. If your therapist can't complete the request, we'll let you know and refund your deposit. All fees are paid before anything is released.
