Who an assessment may help

An assessment can help if you're struggling with focus, organization or finishing tasks, if procrastination or distractibility keep getting in your way, or if executive functioning demands leave you overwhelmed. Many people come in when these challenges start affecting school, work or daily life, or when they need documentation for academic or workplace accommodations.

What an assessment includes

  • A standard intake covering your developmental, academic, behavioral, mental health and medical history

  • The Barkley Deficits in Executive Functioning Scale (BDEFS), completed by you and by someone who knows you well

  • The Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults (DIVA-5), which looks at 18 core ADHD symptoms across childhood and adulthood

  • A review of any records you share, like school reports or 504 plans

  • With your consent, consultation with your other providers when needed

  • A feedback session to go over your results and recommendations

ADHD Assessments

Clear answers about attention, focus and executive functioning

An adult ADHD assessment at Bodhi gives you a structured, supportive way to understand what's going on with your attention, focus and executive functioning. ADHD can show up as trouble concentrating, staying organized, managing time, acting on impulse or regulating emotions. A thorough evaluation helps sort out whether ADHD, or something else, is behind what you're experiencing.

How it works

Adult ADHD assessments at Bodhi are thorough and collaborative. Your clinician gathers information about your current concerns, your developmental history, how you function in different settings, and any related mental health factors. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition, which means it begins in childhood and continues throughout life, so a good assessment looks at both your present and your past.

The assessment itself is done in person in our Champaign office. Follow-up services can be in person or by telehealth when appropriate.

After your assessment

You'll get guidance on next steps, which may include therapy, practical strategies, academic or workplace accommodations, or a medication consultation when appropriate. Whether or not you meet the criteria for ADHD, you'll receive documentation of your results.

Assessment write-ups are billed at $100 an hour and usually take about 3 hours. You can go over your results in session along with the write-up or instead of it.
