Why MI can help

Change sticks better when the reasons come from you. MI helps you get clear on what matters to you, notice the gap between where you are and where you want to be, and build confidence that you can make a change on your terms. It's often used for substance use, but it works for any change you feel stuck on.

What MI can help with

  • Alcohol, cannabis and other substance use

  • Habits you want to change, like screen time, sleep or eating patterns

  • Feeling stuck or unmotivated

  • Big decisions about work, school or relationships

  • Following through on health or treatment goals

Motivational Interviewing

Find your own reasons for change

Part of you wants things to be different. Another part isn't so sure, or is tired of being told what to do. That push and pull is normal. Motivational interviewing (MI) is a conversational approach that helps you sort through those mixed feelings and figure out what you actually want, without anyone lecturing you.

Your clinician listens more than they talk. We ask open questions, reflect back what we hear, and respect that you're the expert on your life. There's no pressure and no judgment, just honest conversation about what you want and what's getting in the way.
