Board Certified Psychiatric -Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unlike yourself lately?

Maybe your child is anxious and you are not sure how to help. Maybe your teenager is struggling with mood, identity, school, or friendships. Maybe you are an adult who has been “pushing through” for years while carrying anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, or the deep impact of trauma. You might feel like you have tried to cope on your own, but what used to work is no longer enough.

You deserve more than quick fixes and rushed appointments. You deserve care that sees all of you.

Bodhi is LGBTQ+ affirming and BIPOC-inclusive, with a focus on culturally responsive care. Mental health treatment is never one-size-fits-all—especially for those who have experienced marginalization, discrimination, or generational trauma.

About Chad Cottrell, PMHNP-BC

I am Chad Cottrell, a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with more than 20 years of nursing experience and two years of advanced practice providing psychiatric care across the lifespan, from children as young as 6 through older adults.

My work is centered on you: your story, your goals, and the kind of life you want to reclaim or finally experience. Instead of just managing symptoms, I focus on understanding what is really driving your struggles so we can create a path toward genuine healing and long-term change.

If you’re interested in holistic options, I may also integrate mindfulness practices, behavioral strategies, lifestyle and nutritional support, and movement-based tools into your treatment. And if medication isn’t the right fit, we can explore alternative and integrative approaches to mental health care together.

Whether you’re seeking therapy and support for anxiety or depression in Champaign, trauma-informed psychiatric care, or an inclusive, empowering approach to mental health, this is a space where your healing can begin. You deserve care that not only addresses your needs but also respects your story.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, and painting. Sometimes there's a desire to “escape reality” and just check out for a bit. These creative outlets help me do that when needed. My artistic abilities often come and go quickly, so I try to take advantage of those moments when I can find clarity through what I create.

When I'm not feeling particularly creative, I enjoy petting the cows over by the University of Illinois—they’re absolutely stunning! Life can feel like a whirlwind of events outside our control, and I’m still working on mastering “radical acceptance.” While we can’t change the past, we can learn from it and keep moving forward in pursuit of the best version of ourselves.
