Who Ego State Therapy may help

Ego State Therapy may help adults, teens, and children who are processing trauma or difficult past experiences, noticing internal conflict or competing emotional reactions, feeling stuck in recurring patterns, or dealing with anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm. It's often an especially effective and healing therapy for attachment trauma.

What sessions may include

  • Identifying and understanding different internal parts or states

  • Exploring how past experiences shape present reactions

  • Building communication and cooperation between parts

  • Reducing internal conflict and increasing emotional regulation

  • Strengths-based and relational perspectives

  • Healing from trauma or distressing experiences

Ego State Therapy

Understand the different parts of you with curiosity and compassion

Ego State Therapy is an integrative approach that helps you understand and work with different parts of yourself. These parts, or ego states, develop over time in response to life experiences, and each may hold different emotions, beliefs, or ways of coping. Exploring them with curiosity and compassion can lead to deeper self-understanding and a calmer, more integrated sense of self.

How it works at Bodhi

Ego State Therapy at Bodhi is trauma-informed and client-centered. Your therapist helps you recognize the internal states that shape your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Instead of treating these parts as problems or as being at war with each other, we see them as meaningful responses shaped by what you've been through.
