Who strength-based therapy may help

Strength-based therapy may help adults and teens dealing with anxiety, stress, or depression, navigating life transitions or identity changes, or feeling stuck and unsure about next steps. It's a good fit if you want more confidence and self-understanding, a collaborative and empowering therapy experience, and stronger coping skills.

What therapy may include

  • Identifying your strengths and sources of resilience

  • Exploring values, goals, and motivation for change

  • Recognizing coping strategies that have helped you before

  • Building confidence and self-efficacy

  • Practical tools for handling challenges

  • Strengthening supportive relationships and community

Strength-Based Therapy

Building on what's already working

Strength-based therapy is an affirming, client-centered approach that focuses on what's already working in you instead of what feels broken. You're not defined by your symptoms, diagnoses, or hardest moments. You already carry resilience, insight, and coping skills, even if they feel buried under stress, trauma, or burnout right now.

How it works at Bodhi

Strength-based therapy is a partnership. Your therapist works with you to identify the strengths, skills, values, and supports you already have, and how they can help you through challenges and toward your goals. The focus shifts from what's wrong to what's possible, without minimizing your pain.

It's often combined with other approaches at Bodhi, including trauma-informed therapy, relational therapy, CBT, and mindfulness-based strategies.

“You have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.” – Louise Hay
