Four Years of Growth, Healing, and Heart: Bodhi Counseling Turns 4

Four years ago, Bodhi Counseling opened its doors in a small, somewhat rundown building—with an elevator that rarely worked, creaky floors, humming radiators, and a whole lot of heart.
At the time, we were a team of just three: myself, one full-time therapist, and one part-time clinician. Our space was modest, but our mission was clear: to create a warm, inclusive, and compassionate place where people could come to heal, grow, and be seen for who they truly are.
Looking back now, it’s humbling to see how far we’ve come.
From Humble Beginnings to a Thriving Community
Those early days were full of long hours, learning curves, and the deep satisfaction that comes from watching something meaningful take root. We met clients in cozy, imperfect rooms and worked hard to build trust—one session, one relationship at a time. We didn’t have much in the way of resources, but we had something more important: a shared belief that mental health care should be human-centered, inclusive, accessible, and deeply respectful of each person’s unique story.
Today, Bodhi Counseling is proud to be a growing group practice that continues to reflect those core values. We've expanded our services, welcomed new team members, and even added a nurse practitioner to provide medication management. We now support college students across semesters, work with families navigating life transitions, and help individuals access care through a variety of insurance plans.
The Heart of Bodhi: Our People
What hasn’t changed is the heart of Bodhi—our people. The dedication of our clinicians, the courage of our clients, and the collective resilience of this community inspire us every day. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or recently joined our care, we are endlessly grateful for the trust you place in us.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate this four-year milestone, we’re reflecting on the lessons learned: that healing is rarely linear, that small beginnings can lead to profound impact, and that showing up—for ourselves and each other—is where real growth begins.
We’re excited for what’s next. Our vision for Bodhi continues to evolve, but our roots remain the same. We’re here to offer grounded, compassionate care that meets people where they are—and walk with them toward where they want to be.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to four years—and many more to come.
With gratitude,
Melanie Sivley
